Terms & conditions

1. Booking & payment

Full payment is required at the time of booking. Your booking is confirmed once payment has been received.
Optional extras are charged in full at the time of booking, are subject to availability and must be booked at least 72 hours before arrival. If an optional extra cannot be provided, guests will receive a full refund for the affected item.
A pre-authorisation of AUD $200 will be taken prior to check-in to cover damage, excessive cleaning, missing or damaged items, or breaches of these Terms & Conditions. If no charges apply, McDonald Hill will release the pre-authorisation within 24 hours of departure. Release times may vary depending on your financial institution.
Where the cost of damage, loss, additional cleaning or other charges exceeds the pre-authorised amount, the guest remains liable for the additional reasonable costs incurred.

2. Cancellation policy

Cancellations made 14 days or more before arrival will receive a full refund.
Cancellations made between 7 and 14 days before arrival are non-refundable but may be transferred once to alternative dates, subject to availability. Any difference in accommodation rates will apply.
Cancellations made within 7 days of arrival are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to alternative dates.
No-shows and early departures are charged in full.
If McDonald Hill cannot honour a booking due to safety, severe weather, bushfire risk, government restrictions or other operational reasons, guests will be offered either a full refund or alternative dates.

3. Check-in & check-out

Check-in is from 2:00 pm and check-out is by 10:00 am.
Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability. Please contact [email protected].
The primary guest may be asked to present valid government-issued photo identification at check-in. The name on the identification must match the name on the booking.

4. Guest requirements

Maximum occupancy is two (2) guests per chalet. All guests and approved visitors must be aged 18 years or over. Children and infants are not permitted.
Only registered guests are permitted on the property unless prior written approval has been obtained from McDonald Hill. Gatherings, parties and events are not permitted.
Pets are not permitted. Guests arriving with pets will not be permitted to check in and no refund will be provided.
Guests must follow the Guest Information Booklet and remain within designated guest areas.

5. Farm safety

McDonald Hill is a working farm with inherent risks including uneven terrain, farm animals, electric fencing, machinery, waterways and other natural hazards.
Enclosed footwear must be worn when walking around the property.
Guests must not enter animal paddocks, enclosures, machinery sheds or restricted areas, open gates or feed animals unless invited or instructed by the owner.
Swimming, wading and fishing in the Brockman River are not permitted.
Guests must promptly notify the owner of any damage or safety issue that may present a risk to people, animals or property.

6. The Hilltop Soak

Access to The Hilltop Soak involves steep and uneven terrain. Guests should review the Accessibility Information before use and satisfy themselves that access is suitable for their individual abilities.
Guests must not depart for The Hilltop Soak after dark or while intoxicated or otherwise impaired.
The wood-fired bath is season permitting, may only be lit by the owner or caretaker, and is subject to weather conditions, fire restrictions, maintenance and operational requirements.

7. Use of facilities & property

Facilities must be used responsibly and in accordance with any instructions provided.
Guests must not light any fire on the property unless expressly authorised by the owner. Fire pits, wood-fired baths and other open flames are subject to applicable fire restrictions.
Candles, incense and other personal open-flame items are not permitted.
Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on the property.
Quiet hours are from 9:00pm to 7:00am.
Additional cleaning beyond what would reasonably be expected will be charged at AUD $80 per hour. Missing or damaged items will be charged at replacement cost.
Food experiences are subject to seasonal and supplier availability and contents may vary.
The owner may terminate a stay without refund where guests breach these Terms & Conditions, engage in unlawful activity, create a safety risk or fail to comply with reasonable directions.

8. Weather, fire & access

Rural properties may experience severe weather, flooding, bushfire risk, power interruptions and other events outside McDonald Hill's reasonable control.
Where the Fire Behaviour Index exceeds 50, bookings will be cancelled in accordance with planning approval and guests will receive a full refund or alternative dates.
Access to the property is via a bridge with a 10-tonne weight limit and an approximate 3-metre width clearance. Guests travelling with oversized vehicles or trailers should contact McDonald Hill before booking.

9. Privacy & security

Guest information is collected and handled in accordance with the McDonald Hill Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms & Conditions.
External CCTV operates in outdoor areas of the property for the safety and security of guests, animals and the property.

10. Liability

Guests stay at and use the property at their own risk.
McDonald Hill is not responsible for loss, theft or damage to guests' personal belongings.
McDonald Hill is not responsible for disruptions caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including severe weather, bushfire, flooding, utility outages or government restrictions.

11. Changes to terms & governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Western Australia.
McDonald Hill may amend these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The version applicable to a booking is the version in effect at the time the booking is confirmed.
By making a booking and/or staying at McDonald Hill, guests acknowledge that they have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
